Man clinging to cooler rescued by Coast Guard in Florida

SUMMARY: A dramatic scene unfolded off Longboat Key, Florida, after Hurricane Milton struck nearby. Over 12 hours post-landfall, a boat owner alerted the Coast Guard that their captain, who ventured out for repairs, had not checked in. The Coast Guard made radio contact with the captain, who reported a disabled rudder while returning to port as the hurricane approached. They advised him to don a jacket and remain with the vessel’s emergency beacon. Communication was lost around 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. A search party located and rescued the captain eight hours later, and he was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital.

Surfside Beach dispensary loses license after high THC levels found

SUMMARY: Delta dispensary in Surfside Beach was raided last month for allegedly selling illegal amounts of THC. Owners Jason and Sabrina Papado appealed to the Town Council to keep their business license amid community , with witnesses arguing that similar local shops operate with the same products. An undercover officer’s purchases revealed THC levels exceeding legal limits, leading to charges against the Papados. Despite their claims of compliance and intent not to break the , the Council sided with the business license official and revoked their license. The Papados plan to open a new dispensary, but not in Surfside Beach.

It has been almost one month since Surfside Beach Department raided the store, Delta Dispensary, after a three-month long, undercover investigation.

The owner of the dispensary, Jason Papotto, was charged with two counts of distribution of marijuana, as well as distribution of marijuana in close proximity to a school or park after illegal amounts of THC were found in his products.
