SUMMARY: In a Fox 13 investigation, Anthony Robertson shares his harrowing experience of being wrongfully jailed for five months due to a mix-up involving a single letter in his last name. Mistaken for another Anthony Roberson, who had a warrant for serious crimes, he was arrested in Ohio and extradited to Shelby County. Despite proving his innocence, he remained in custody until July 3. Now dealing with PTSD and the loss of his job, Robertson’s record is expunged but he seeks legal help to hold accountable those responsible for the error. Fox 13 continues to investigate the case.

A misspelled last name and a typo on a year of birth led to an innocent man’s arrest on charges including aggravated rape and aggravated kidnapping. SUMMARY: As of December 18, 2024, Nashville recorded 101 homicides, marking the fourth consecutive year with over 100 deaths, a concerning trend since the city first surpassed this mark in 2017. Public safety discussions have intensified following recent violent incidents, with Governor Bill Lee deeming the spike in shootings “unacceptable.” The South Precinct has seen an 81% increase in homicides compared to last year. Tennessee reports an average of 633 gun-related deaths annually, ranking it eighth in gun homicide rates in the U.S. To enhance safety, two dedicated police officers will patrol Metro Greenways, alongside expected budget investments for maintenance.

Nashville hit a grim milestone because more than 100 people have died in homicides this year.

Despite the Tennessee General Assembly approving $230 million for school safety, Wren warns about a lack of guidelines leading to potentially unhelpful purchases. Ultimately, he emphasizes prioritizing basic security measures, like locked doors, which have proven effective.
