Hurricane Milton Moves into Fort Myers, Concern for Storm Surge
SUMMARY: Recent storms, including Hurricane Idalia and Hurricane Ian, have significantly impacted the Fort Myers area, with Ian causing storm surges up to five feet. Current forecasts predict up to 12 feet of storm surge, raising major concerns. Santa Belle Island and Captiva are under mandatory evacuation orders as Hurricane Idalia approaches. 4-County Electric departs for hurricane recovery in Florida
SUMMARY: A crew from the Power Association, specifically the 4 County Electric Power Association, has departed for Florida to assist with recovery efforts following Hurricane Milton. They are joining Central Florida’s Peace River Electric Co-op to aid in restoring power after the storm’s destructive winds and storm surge. This marks the second volunteer group sent to Florida in three weeks. The Power Association anticipates that its team will be on-site for at least a week or longer, depending on the extent of the damage caused by the hurricane.
