3 crew members killed in Kentucky medical helicopter crash
SUMMARY: A medical helicopter crash occurred in Owen County, Kentucky, last night, claiming the lives of three victims: Bethany Aiken, Gail Aleman, and James Walsh. The Air Evac Lifeteam 133 helicopter, based in Williamstown, went down shortly after 5:30 PM near State Route 22, close to Owen County High School. According to FAA reports, the helicopter struck a guidewire, a tension cable, before crashing and catching fire. The NTSB is currently investigating the incident, which has shocked the local community.

New chief in town: Lexington Fire Department welcomes new junior fire chief
SUMMARY: The Alexin Fire Department introduced its new junior fire chief, Owen, a fifth grader from Veterans Park Elementary School, who will serve for the 2024 term. Owen was awarded his badge after winning a contest that involved writing an essay and designing a poster on fire prevention, focusing on the theme “Smoke Alarms: Make Them Work for You.” Firefighters expressed that this program effectively engages children in learning about fire safety and prevention during Fire Prevention Week.
A fifth-grader named Owen was named as the 2024 Junior Fire Chief following his essay and poster design.
