Hurricane Milton making landfall as a Cat 4

SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton is currently less than 300 miles from making landfall in Florida as a Category 5 storm with winds at 160 mph, expected to weaken to a Category 4 as it approaches. Residents in that area will face potentially severe impacts, including structural damage, due to the storm’s strength. Rainfall could reach up to 15 inches. Southeast Louisiana will experience cooler temperatures with highs in the mid-80s and no expected rain in the coming days.

Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall as a category 4 late Wednesday into early Thursday.
