Former NCCU football player becomes 2nd in world to receive total artificial heart
SUMMARY: Donovan Harbison, a 34-year-old educational consultant and father from North Carolina, became a Pioneer patient in a clinical trial at Duke University in August. Doctors implanted a total artificial heart (BIVACOR) after diagnosing him with heart failure due to a gene mutation. The device replaced all four heart chambers, providing enough support while he awaited a transplant. After ten days, he became healthy enough to receive a donor heart. Grateful for his second chance at life, Donovan encourages organ donation, acknowledging the medical innovation at Duke and expressing heartfelt gratitude to the donor’s family.

Weatherby relocating, expanding in Triangle | North Carolina

Hurricane Milton could be one of Florida's worst storms in 100 years
