Broadway in Jackson shows at canceled at Thalia Mara
SUMMARY: This year’s Broadway and Jackson shows at Thalia Mara Hall have been mostly canceled due to mold issues, leaving only one scheduled performance. Since 2015, the hall has hosted Broadway productions, but ongoing remediation timelines remain uncertain. As there is no alternative venue available, six planned shows are canceled. Mannheim Steamroller Christmas is set to take place at the Mississippi Coliseum on December 27. Season ticket holders will receive automatic refunds within 10 to 15 days. The Broadway in Jackson team plans to start booking the 2025-26 season but will only confirm events when conditions allow.

Entergy crews prepare to respond to Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: Entergy Mississippi crews are on standby as Hurricane Milton approaches Florida. About 100 workers are currently staged in Georgia, collaborating with Tampa Electric to assess where assistance will be needed post-landfall. These teams have traveled as far as Virginia for power restoration efforts following Hurricane Helene. A senior manager emphasized that witnessing the relief and joy of communities when power is restored motivates the crew. The team focuses on restoring electricity, viewing every bulb that lights up as a morale booster and part of their mission to help those affected. More than 1,000 personnel are involved in these relief efforts.

Mandatory Evacuation Going into Place for Sanibel Island ahead Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: Mandatory evacuations are being implemented for the Barrier Islands off Southwest Florida, including Sanibel and Captiva, ahead of deteriorating weather conditions due to Hurricane Milton. The Sanibel Causeway, the sole road connecting Sanibel Island to the mainland, was previously damaged during Hurricane Ian in 2022. Although it has been reinforced since then, residents are urged to take the evacuation seriously as a storm surge of 6 to 10 feet is expected. Additionally, the likelihood of power outages will increase from Wednesday into early Thursday, prompting further precautions among the community.
The Weather Channel Meteorologist Felicia Combs reports from Sanibel, Florida where she said mandatory evacuations are going into place for the barrier islands on southwest Florida, off the coast of southwest Florida. Places like Sanibel Island and Captiva have mandatory evacuations going into place Tuesday night as conditions will deteriorate Wednesday ahead of Milton.
