Milton strongest hurricane in Gulf in nearly 20 years, targets Florida
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Eric Johnson reports perfect weather for the Coast this week, with mornings in the 60s—10°F below the average—and afternoons in the mid-80s, slightly above normal. Conditions are dry with low humidity, typical for October in South Mississippi. Currently, it’s 78°F in Gulfport with a north wind. In the tropics, Hurricane Milton has intensified, reaching a pressure of 897 millibars, making it the strongest storm in the Gulf in nearly 20 years. Though weakening, Milton’s wind field will expand, heightening storm surge threats for Florida, with potential surges of 10-15 feet expected.

Cockroach reef on display along Highway 90 for Cruisin’ the Coast
SUMMARY: A giant cockroach Reef, created by Bay Pest Control DMR and the Mississippi Gulf Fishing Banks, has attracted attention on Highway 90 as it sits temporarily at Schooner Pier. While some families enjoy lunch or fishing nearby, they express surprise and admiration for the massive sculpture made from scrap metal. The Reef, intended to boost local fish populations by creating new ecosystems, will be submerged 70 to 100 feet deep about 20 miles offshore in the coming weeks, depending on weather conditions. Before its sinking, visitors have a week to observe this unique piece of art.
The reef rests along Highway 90 for those enjoying Cruisin’ the Coast to indulge themselves in the most common pest in the state.

Wesley's 6AM Tuesday Tropics Update
SUMMARY: Seven years ago, Hurricane Nate surprised Cruin, making landfall in 2017. Its eye directly passed over the Mississippi Coast, a rare occurrence, last seen with Hurricane George in the 1990s. Although Nate was a Category 1, it caused significant flooding, submerging Highway 90 and affecting local casinos. Presently, Hurricane Milton poses a major threat to Florida, having strengthened to the strongest storm in the Gulf since Rita in 2005. Expected to make landfall as a Category 3, it will bring severe storm surges and wind, affecting areas even inland like Orlando, reminding everyone to take hurricanes seriously, regardless of category.
Milton has its sights set on Florida. A major hurricane landfall is expected by late tomorrow or early Thursday.
