Before the Museum There Lived a Man: Who was Walter Anderson?
SUMMARY: Walter Anderson, born in New Orleans in 1903, was an influential artist known for his unique style blending whimsical forms and vibrant colors inspired by nature. A painter, philosopher, and poet, he immersed himself in the natural world, documenting its beauty in journals. Educated at prestigious art schools, he was influenced by cave paintings during a summer in France. Anderson spent much of his life creating art in Ocean Springs and Horn Island, where his deep connection to nature shaped his work. Despite mental health struggles, he produced extensive art, including murals in the Walter Anderson Museum of Art. He passed away in 1965.

SUMMARY: The 28th annual Cruisin’ The Coast, America’s largest block party, started in 1996 as a modest celebration of antique and classic cars and has grown significantly, with registered vehicles increasing from 374 to over 10,000 by 2023.
