DeSoto County and ICE partner to expedite deportation process

Mississippi wildlife officials release updated chronic wasting disease management zones
SUMMARY: Mississippi wildlife officials are informing the public about chronic wasting disease (CWD) management zones due to its severe impact on deer populations. CWD is a contagious and fatal brain disease affecting deer, requiring strict regulations in areas where it’s confirmed. Transportation of carcasses is prohibited outside these zones to prevent disease spread, and hunters can only transport deer heads to permitted taxidermists with a specific sample number. Supplemental feeding is banned in management zones to reduce deer concentration and contact with the disease. Current CWD management zones include North Mississippi, Issaquena, and Harrison areas.
