Were you purged from the voter rolls?
SUMMARY: In Mississippi, state law dictates the voter purging process, recently resulting in 30,000 voters being removed, according to the Democratic Party. Reasons for purging include individual requests, deceased voters, and those who haven’t voted in the last two federal elections. Hinds County Election Commissioner Yvonne Horton stated the removal process is automatic and lacks voter notification, raising fairness concerns. Brittany Daily of the Rankin County Democratic Women reports assisting purged voters in re-registering. Although voters may cast affidavit ballots on November 5, those purged will ultimately have their votes discarded upon verification.

Jacksonville, FL Under Tropical Storm Warning, Storm Surge Warning Ahead Hurricane Milton
SUMMARY: Hurricane Milton is expected to transition across Florida from the West Coast to the East Coast, maintaining hurricane force winds. Jacksonville Beach is currently under a tropical storm and storm surge warning. To the south, from Ponto V Beach to Indian River, hurricane warnings are in effect. The First Coast could experience a surge of 3 to 5 feet, with risks extending to Georgia. If this surge coincides with high tide and heavy rainfall, flooding may occur, particularly along the St. John River in Jacksonville. Meteorologist J. SUMMARY: After assessing the storm’s impact, requests for assistance arise. In Raymond, the Hinds County Sheriff confirmed that one person was taken into custody following a shooting on Airport Road. The incident occurred shortly after 4 PM on Wednesday, leaving a 44-year-old man critically injured. He was subsequently transported to UMMC for medical treatment.
The Hinds County Sheriff’s Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting.
