SUMMARY: Three hurricanes are currently being tracked off the coast of Africa, but only Hurricane Milton poses a significant threat, expected to strengthen into a major hurricane and impact Florida this . As of the latest advisory, Milton is moving east with 85 mph winds and is projected to make landfall in Florida on Wednesday. Central and South Florida may experience significant impacts, while the 5 viewing area anticipates only minor effects such as rough . Local weather will become clearer and cooler this week, with temperatures dropping by the , creating a pleasant fall-like atmosphere.

The stubborn cloud continued , and temperatures were only able to make it into the mid-80’s. Overnight, temperatures will drop to around 70° again, and the clouds will be clearing from the area. Monday will be warmer in the upper-80’s, and we will have a lot more sunshine. Once a cold front can dive south and through the area later in the day on Monday into early Tuesday, we will see drier conditions for much of next week with highs dropping into the low-80’s by Thursday and lows dropping to around 60°. That front will keep Milton to the south of the News 5 area. The News 5 First Alert Storm Team is tracking three hurricanes: Kirk, Leslie, and Milton. Hurricane Milton is in the western of Mexico. It is to become a major hurricane before making landfall along the west coast of Florida bringing significant impacts to the FL peninsula. A cold front will keep this system on that east/northeast track, so no direct impacts are expected for the News 5 area. Rough surf and gusty winds will still be possible as this system passes far to our south next week. Kirk and Leslie are both hurricanes in the central Atlantic, and these do not pose a threat to our area. There is an area off the west coast of Africa that has a low of formation, and it also does not pose a threat.
