Gulf Breeze doctor arrested on two counts of first-degree murder, 10 others arrested Wednesday
SUMMARY: A local doctor, Elaine Sharp, faces murder, manslaughter, and racketeering charges following an investigation into an alleged pill mill in Northwest Florida. The 72-year-old was arrested in Escambia County and transferred to Santa Rosa County Jail. The investigation, which began in February 2021, was prompted by complaints from pharmacists about excessive Oxycodone prescriptions. Several patients reportedly overdosed after taking the medication. Additionally, charges have been filed against 11 others accused of illegally distributing Sharp’s prescribed pills. Several Colleges Waiving Application Fees Next Week | Oct. 4, 2024 | News 19 at 5 p.m.
SUMMARY: High school seniors will have an excellent opportunity to apply to college next week, as several colleges and universities are waiving application fees. The Alabama State Department of Education announced that students can apply for free to participating colleges throughout the week, including institutions in Alabama and neighboring states. A complete list of participating colleges is available on WHNT.com. However, it’s important to note that some applications may have specific requirements.
