Tracking the Tropics: Kirk remains a powerful hurricane in the Atlantic with tropical development…
SUMMARY: Satellite images show a strong hurricane far out in the Atlantic with a well-defined eye, posing no threat to land currently. Tropical Storm Leslie is also noted. Attention turns to an area of disorganized showers and storms in the Gulf of Mexico, which may develop into a tropical depression or storm early next week. Most predictions suggest this system will remain south of the Gulf Coast, impacting Florida more than Louisiana or Mississippi. Meanwhile, local temperatures are mostly in the 70s in metro areas, with some 60s elsewhere, indicating a warm weekend ahead.
