SUMMARY: A hurricane is developing in the Gulf of Mexico, with a 70% chance of becoming Tropical Storm Milton. The storm’s unexpected early convection suggests it could strengthen significantly. Hurricane modeling will begin shortly, with reconnaissance flights scheduled for the weekend. Two scenarios exist: one indicating a stronger storm impacting Central Florida and another suggesting a weaker system impacting farther south. The unprecedented rainfall destroyed roads and bridges, leaving him isolated with another family. While his children in South Florida went four days without contact, he managed to send an SOS message. A retired firefighter helped them escape to safety via a makeshift bridge.
