DNA comparison confirms identity of Labor Day murder victim in Lowndes County
SUMMARY: DNA evidence has confirmed the identity of a Labor Day murder victim in Loun County as Elias Trudell from Colorado Springs, Colorado. His body was discovered in a burned vehicle, following a failed drug deal in Columbus. Loun County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins reported that Trudell was murdered, and his family described him as a good person who unfortunately associated with the wrong crowd. They expressed anguish over the violent nature of his death, stating that no one deserves such a fate. Seven individuals have been arrested and face charges, including conspiracy and murder, related to Trudell’s death.
DNA comparison confirmed the identity of the body recovered from a burned vehicle in Lowndes County a month ago.

Mississippi National Guard deploys for Hurricane Helene relief efforts
SUMMARY: One week after Hurricane Helen made landfall, hundreds of thousands in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas remain without power. To assist in the emergency response, 31 soldiers and Airmen from the Mississippi National Guard have been deployed to South Carolina and Florida. Their tasks include transporting search and rescue teams and clearing debris. The National Guard Aviation Response Team has flown around 20 hours in the Tampa area of Florida, successfully completing their mission and returning home safely.
