Senators request answers for billions to Iran, its terror proxies | National
SUMMARY: Two U.S. senators, Tim Scott and Mike Rounds, have written to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York demanding explanations regarding its failures linked to the Central Bank of Iraq, which reportedly allowed billions to be funneled to Iran and its proxies. The Wall Street Journal detailed how a figure known as the “dollar king of Iraq” managed untraceable wire transfers. The senators highlighted the lack of anti-money laundering controls and criticized the neglect of warnings about potential corruption since 2012. They seek information on any changes to the report and reassessments of AML controls related to high-risk countries.
