SUMMARY: Western North Carolina is experiencing severe devastation following recent flooding, with roads and rivers rendered unrecognizable. In the hard-hit Pearson Falls area, kayaker Mason Harrove utilizes his paddling skills to assist cut-off communities, including Green River Cove. Alongside fellow paddler DNE Jackson, he navigates hazardous waters to deliver food and conduct wellness checks. Volunteering with the support of Erica Shanks from the environmental group Mountain True, they are organizing supplies and providing aid before governmental assistance arrives. As search and rescue missions continue, officials have yet to determine the number of fatalities amidst the ongoing crisis in Saluda.

A lot of polls, not a lot of change in Harris v. Trump | North Carolina
SUMMARY: In North Carolina’s presidential polling, the margin between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris has narrowed, suggesting a tight race as Election Day approaches. Historical trends show Trump often outperforms polls, while Harris, nearing her 60th birthday, was part of the winning Biden ticket in 2020 despite losing the state. Current data from RealClear and Project 538 show Trump leading marginally, with polls indicating a potential repeat of close contests seen in previous elections. North Carolina’s 16 electoral votes are critical, aligning with Pennsylvania’s 19 in battleground state strategies. Early voting begins in 14 days, intensifying electoral dynamics.
