SUMMARY: The latest weather update highlights significant tropical activity, including Tropical Storm Leslie and Hurricane Kirk, which is the third major hurricane of the season. Fortunately, these storms are expected to remain far out in the Atlantic and pose no immediate threat. However, there is a 30% chance of development for a new system in the Gulf, influenced by moisture and energy interaction. Current forecasts suggest this system could result in heavy rain, primarily affecting Florida, with anticipated precipitation of 1-2 inches. Overall, conditions indicate any development would likely be minimal, potentially only a weak tropical depression.

Meteorologist Devon Lucie breaks down what’s happening in the tropics with the latest named storm and another storm that’s now the 3rd major hurricane of the season, then gest specific on what is coming into focus on possible development in the Gulf of Mexico and how it plays into our rain chances here and where a possible system is most likely to develop in the Gulf, how strong it will be, and who is expected to get the most impacts from it.
