SUMMARY: The weather forecast indicates warm temperatures around 98°F and the formation of the seventh hurricane of the season, named Captain Kirk, with a 90% chance of further development. Meanwhile, a tropical depression has emerged off Central America. There’s a 40% chance of development in the Gulf over the next week, influenced by multiple low-pressure areas. Expect increased humidity and rain chances by Thursday, particularly along the coast, while the North Shore may see less rainfall. The heaviest rain is anticipated on Thursday and Friday, with temperatures expected to drop following the rainfall.

Meteorologist Devon Lucie highlights a busy tropics where our latest hurricane formed, Kirk, and another storm is forecast to develop at any moment, then turns towards Central America where another Tropical Depression just formed and could have an influence on the zone of possible tropical development we’ve been tracking last week. He breaks down every piece of energy we’re watching, and walks us through how it will impact our rain chances and what it means for what type and how strong of a tropical system is likely to form, where it will track, and where it will have the greatest impacts. Then turns to our high resolution forecast timing when showers and storms are likeliest on Thursday while finishing up with a look at when and where rain is likeliest on Friday and through the weekend then wrapping up with a look at the complete seven day forecast.

SUMMARY: Bear County law enforcement agencies express concern over a new booking policy by Sheriff Javier Salazar, which delays jail intake for suspects requiring medical screening. The directive, aimed at addressing jail deaths, mandates that suspects detoxing from substances or with serious medical conditions must be evaluated at a hospital before booking. This has led to significant delays and complications for officers, with reports of suspects being released instead of booked. Smaller agencies worry that the policy jeopardizes public safety. Despite the concerns raised, Sheriff Salazar maintains that the policy is necessary to improve health outcomes for detainees.
