Trial date set for man accused of killing JSU student on campus in 2022

SUMMARY: The trial for Randall Smith, accused of murdering (JSU) student Flynn Brown, is to begin on November 4, 2024, at the Courthouse. Brown’s body was found in a vehicle on campus in December 2022, been shot in the head. Smith claims he acted in self-defense during a confrontation over stolen belongings, doughnuts. While suitemates reported hearing loud music instead of gunshots, evidence suggests Smith tried to flee the scene. Brown’s has also filed a wrongful lawsuit against JSU, alleging negligence regarding prior thefts reported to the university.

I-55 bridge work expected to cause delays for Jackson drivers
