Michigan joins program to expand behavioral health services | Michigan

SUMMARY: Michigan is one of four states participating in the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Innovation in Behavioral Health (IBH) Model, aimed at improving care for adults with mental health or substance use disorders enrolled in Medicaid and Medicare. Along with New York, Oklahoma, and South Carolina, Michigan will collaborate with community-based behavioral health providers to integrate behavioral and physical health care. The eight-year program, starting Wednesday, will focus on coordinated care to improve health outcomes and reduce hospitalizations. CMS will provide funding, up to $7.5M per state, to support this initiative, which was part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s agenda.
