Detective: Kentucky sheriff called his own daughter on judge’s phone 'seconds' before shooting
SUMMARY: Former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stynes appeared in court for a preliminary hearing regarding the shooting death of Judge Kevin Mullins. Stynes allegedly shot Mullins after the two met privately in the judge’s chambers. Evidence presented included a phone call Stynes made to his daughter using Mullins’ phone, which was found in the judge’s contacts. Stynes’ attorney argued for a manslaughter charge due to emotional distress, but the judge sided with the prosecution, establishing probable cause for a murder charge. Testimony revealed that Mullins was shot multiple times by Stynes.
