Digital Innovation splicing rodeo helps students
SUMMARY: Nearly 100 high school students participated in a unique skill-building opportunity at the Digital Innovation Conference in Tupelo, organized by Tong Bigby Electric Power Association’s fiber teams. They learned to splice fiber cables and competed to demonstrate their skills, with winners receiving scholarships for a fiber technician certification program at Northeast Mississippi Community College. The hands-on experience allowed students to gain practical knowledge in fiber optics, an essential skill in today‘s job market. This marks the second year of the conference, aimed at empowering students with valuable technical skills for their futures.
Local high school students had an opportunity to try their hand at splicing fiber cables to earn scholarships at the annual Digital Innovation conference in Tupelo.
