Interim study aims to clarify new law on digital communication between students, teachers
SUMMARY: An interim study at the state capitol is examining House Bill 3958, which requires school faculty to include a student’s parent or guardian in any digital communication with students. In effect since July 1, the law, signed by Governor Kevin Stitt, aims to reduce predatory communications but has caused confusion among parents and school staff. Led by the bill’s author, Sherry Conley, the study will explore the law’s impacts and assess if further clarification is necessary. The meeting is scheduled for 1:00 PM today at the capitol, where coverage will be provided.

Shawnee Public Schools superintendent being investigated by OSDE
SUMMARY: The Shawnee Public Schools superintendent, Dr. Aaron Pulled, is under investigation by the Oklahoma State Department of Education for allegations dating back to the early 2000s. He was placed on administrative leave in August, though court records show no criminal charges against him. During a recent Board of Education meeting, members expressed concern over the allegations while emphasizing the need to provide due process. Dr. Pulled has filed for a temporary restraining order to prevent possible emergency suspension of his teaching license. The investigation continues, and other educators have voiced opposition to suspensions without formal charges.
