Death row inmate loses latest appeal
SUMMARY: After the fire was extinguished and the scene cleared, the Mississippi Supreme Court rejected another appeal from Richard Gerald Jordan, the state‘s oldest death row inmate at 78. Sentenced to death in 1976 for the kidnapping and murder of Edwina Marter, Jordan has faced multiple appeals, including a previous challenge that the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear in 2015. The state Supreme Court’s decision to unanimously deny his latest appeal reinforces his lengthy legal battles and ongoing status on death row.
