Mobile nursing facility housing Hurricane Helene refugees from Florida

SUMMARY: Carabel and Wellness Center, a skilled nursing facility in Mobile, coordinated with its sister facility in Carabel, Florida, to safely transport 56 ahead of Hurricane Halen. The Mobile facility sent passenger vans and buses for a 4-hour journey, where residents were welcomed with hot meals upon arrival. While many residents expressed gratitude for their safety, they also mourned leaving behind in Florida. Administrator Scott Hayes emphasized the importance of evacuation plans for natural disasters, and assured that agencies were involved in ensuring safety. The Mobile facility can accommodate 174 beds, with 110 reserved for Florida evacuees.

TVA Announces River Operations Update | October 1, 2024 | News 19 at 5 p.m.

SUMMARY: The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has announced plans to aggressively manage flow through the system this due to excessive rainfall from Hurricane Helene in East Tennessee. Southeastern states send help to Helene-stricken North Carolina | Florida

Alabama dispatched a 13-person team for search and rescue operations, while Mississippi sent generators and helicopters to recovery efforts. Helene, a Category 4 storm, caused extensive flooding and devastation in several states, leaving many stranded in like Asheville, which received nearly 14 inches of rain.

Alabama man dead after base jumping accident in Utah
