CPD investigating shooting that claimed the life of a 16-year-old
SUMMARY: On Saturday afternoon, Columbus Police responded to a shooting on Constance Lane, resulting in the death of 16-year-old Marquez Carter and leaving a 17-year-old injured. Police Chief Joseph Daughtry expressed concern over youth violence and the community’s reluctance to cooperate in investigations. Carter’s body will undergo an autopsy for evidence crucial to solving the case. Daughtry highlighted the growing emotional issues among youths, which escalate into violence rather than communication. Authorities urge anyone with information on the case to contact the Columbus Police Department or Golden Triangle Crimestoppers anonymously, as investigations continue.
