Report shows mold in Norman library prior to opening
SUMMARY: The new public library in Norman has been closed for nearly a year due to mold issues, which reportedly existed before its opening in 2019. Community members express disappointment, noting the library’s value for access to resources. A report from 2018 revealed mold concerns during construction, particularly in the children‘s section. While the city of Norman has posted an update regarding the situation, it lacks a specific timeline for repairs and reopening. The library’s future will be discussed in an upcoming city council meeting. Meanwhile, a temporary location is available, but users find it unsatisfactory compared to the original library.
