Eight Days of Hope extends help to hurricane victims in Florida
SUMMARY: Volunteers from Eight Days of Hope in Tupelo are assisting in Georgia, providing meals to emergency workers, volunteers, and residents affected by Hurricane Helene. The team will operate in the Valdosta area from October 2 to October 14. Volunteers aged 16 and older are welcome to join the initiative. Since the storm’s impact, over 2,000 meals have been served through the Mass Feeding Ministry in Perry, Florida. Two teens charged with firing shots into Jackson crowd
SUMMARY: Two teenagers were arrested in Jackson, Mississippi, after allegedly shooting into a crowd during a gathering on September 28. The incident took place on South Frontage Road, where shots were fired into two vehicles; one was occupied, but there were no reported injuries. Police identified the suspects’ vehicle, a white SUV, at a gas station, capturing a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old inside. Officers retrieved the firearm used in the incident. Both teens face charges of aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by a minor, and malicious mischief.

Columbus Air Force Base brings assistance to other facilities
SUMMARY: Columbus Airforce Base is playing a significant role in Hurricane Helene recovery efforts by providing temporary housing for military aircraft and personnel from affected bases. As of September 28, the base has accommodated 100 search and rescue responders from Davis Moffett Airforce Base, who utilized the gym for overnight preparations. Additionally, the base has sheltered 16 aircraft, including three helicopters and two C130 planes from Moody Air Force Base in Georgia.
