SUMMARY: This Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the weather remains dry with mostly clear skies across the Gulf Coast and Southeastern Louisiana. Temperatures are reaching the mid to upper 80s, slightly above the seasonal average. A stationary frontal boundary may bring partly cloudy skies into the weekend, but a cooling front is expected later in the week, potentially increasing rain chances. In the tropics, Tropical Storm Isaac is weakening in the North Atlantic, while Tropical Storm Joyce is also expected to diminish. A newly formed Tropical Depression 12 in the Eastern Atlantic could strengthen into Tropical Storm Kirk, but poses minimal immediate threat.

THIS WEEK: Pleasant mornings, record-challenging high temperatures ~ Mia
SUMMARY: Good evening, San Antonio! Meteorologist Mia Montgomery reports that record high temperatures are expected to start the work week, with Monday’s forecast reaching 97 degrees, potentially breaking the current record of 96. Drier air will lead to quick warming in the afternoons but allow for cooler nights, with morning lows in the mid-60s. This trend continues into Wednesday, with no significant heat index issues expected. A slight chance of isolated showers may appear next weekend, as humidity increases. Additionally, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring a system in the Caribbean with a 50% chance of development, though it poses no immediate threat to Central Texas.
Dry air will still make for pleasant mornings early this week, but plenty of sunshine will send high temperatures into the mid/upper 90s at times, challenging a few records in San Antonio. Here’s an update on the week ahead, plus a check at the tropics with Mia.
