Dry and quiet. Tracking tropics
SUMMARY: This Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., the weather remains dry with mostly clear skies across the Gulf Coast and Southeastern Louisiana. Temperatures are reaching the mid to upper 80s, slightly above the seasonal average. A stationary frontal boundary may bring partly cloudy skies into the weekend, but a cooling front is expected later in the week, potentially increasing rain chances. In the tropics, Tropical Storm Isaac is weakening in the North Atlantic, while Tropical Storm Joyce is also expected to diminish. A newly formed Tropical Depression 12 in the Eastern Atlantic could strengthen into Tropical Storm Kirk, but poses minimal immediate threat.

Saturday 10pm Tropical Update: Development in Western Caribbean to drift to Gulf of Mexico
SUMMARY: The tropics are being monitored as tropical moisture is expected to return to the Gulf of Mexico. Currently, systems Joyce and Isaac, along with invest 90, are located in the Atlantic and pose no threat. However, the National Hurricane Center has identified a 50% chance of tropical development in the Western Caribbean, possibly drifting into the southern Gulf by late next week. Although global models show little activity through the weekend, monitoring will intensify Wednesday. Development may depend on upper steering currents and a potential cold front. The next storm names are Kirk and Leslie, with updates to follow.
Meteorologist Alexa Triscler says a tropical development has a 50 percent chance of developing. It will drift into the southern Gulf of Mexico late next week.
