SUMMARY: Mississippi is providing assistance to states affected by Hurricane Helene, which caused significant destruction after making landfall as a Category 4 storm in Florida. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has deployed resources including helicopters and generators to assist recovery efforts in Florida and Georgia. Utility companies from Mississippi have sent crews to help restore power to millions affected by the storm. MEMA has created a webpage for residents to make cash donations to disaster recovery organizations aiding those impacted across the Southeast, while discouraging unsolicited goods or self-deployment.
