The low pressure system leftover from Hurricane Helen will contribute to the drizzle, but by mid-week, conditions are set to improve with sunshine and warmer temperatures approaching near 80°F by next weekend, bringing a break from humidity.

The grant supports overtime for 45 specially trained police officers and funds a full-time mental health professional to assist on these calls. This initiative aims to divert individuals with mental health issues away from jail and towards treatment. Lexington typically sees 3,000 mental health-related emergency calls annually. City officials and lawmakers express optimism for the program’s success, highlighting the importance of officer safety and available mental health support during crisis situations.

Kentucky fire crews dispatched to help disaster victims in Florida
