Behind the scenes of Bryant-Denny Stadium's popcorn providers
SUMMARY: At the Nutt Shop in Tuscaloosa, employees have been busy preparing popcorn for game day at Bryant-Denny Stadium, especially for the matchup between the Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs. Rice often works 10 to 17-hour days to meet demand.

Elks Lodges in Northwest Florida team up with United Cajun Navy to provide disaster relief supplies
SUMMARY: Elks Lodges in Northwest Florida are partnering with the United Cajun Navy to assist communities affected by recent hurricanes. Understanding the devastating impact of storms, lodge members are collecting non-perishable food, diapers, hygiene products, water, and gas cans throughout the weekend. For those who cannot donate in person, an Amazon wish list has been established for easier contributions. Local organizations are stepping up to help communities devastated by Hurricane Helene. Among those are the Elks Lodges of Northwest Florida and The United Cajun Navy.

ADPH 'Clear the Crib' Challenge for Infant Sleep Safety | Sept. 27, 2024 | News 19 at 4:30 p.m.
SUMMARY: The Alabama Department of Public Health is addressing high infant mortality rates by launching the “Clear the Crib Challenge,” a social media campaign to educate parents about safe sleep practices. Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) is the leading cause of infant mortality, often linked to unsafe sleeping environments. Health officials emphasize the importance of ensuring cribs are free of blankets, pillows, and other items. They promote adherence to the ABC’s of safe sleep: infants should sleep Alone, on their Back, and without any extra items. Participants are encouraged to declutter cribs and share their efforts online to raise awareness.
The #ClearTheCrib campaign aims to combat one of the leading causes of infant mortality, Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Baldwin Co. utility crews head to hurricane damage in Florida, Georgia
SUMMARY: After Storm Helen caused widespread destruction, leaving millions without electricity, help is on the way. Crews from Daphne and Foley offices are assisting Tallahassee’s restoration efforts with 14 linemen and two engineers. Meanwhile, 22 Baldwin EMC linemen and support staff are heading to Georgia, which has been affected across seven counties. The scope of damage remains unknown, and preparations are being made for various scenarios. Although the rain and winds have subsided, the recovery process is just beginning, and these crews are crucial for restoring power and supporting the cleanup efforts.
Days before the Helene hit the big bend of Florida the call for help had already gone out to utility crews in Baldwin County. Friday that call was answered.
