Dry air continues to give us big swings in temperatures
SUMMARY: Good Friday morning! Meteorologist Justin Horn reports on Hurricane Helen, which is weakening but still causing rain, particularly in Florida, while North Carolina is recovering from flash flooding. The storm is being absorbed into an upper-level low, which may bring rain to Tennessee and Kentucky. In the meantime, dry air is leading to warming temperatures, reaching 85ยฐF by noon and a high of 93ยฐF in the afternoon. Evening football games will be pleasant with temperatures dropping to 82ยฐF at 8 PM and 77ยฐF by 9 PM. Expect sunny skies and warm temperatures through the weekend and into next week.

Hurricane Helene makes landfall and moves NE through Carolinas | FOX 7 Austin
SUMMARY: Hurricane Helen made landfall in Florida as a category 4 hurricane but has since weakened to a tropical storm, currently moving northeast through Georgia and the Carolinas. In Asheville, North Carolina, rain and strong wind gusts have begun impacting the area, leading to flash flood warnings due to prior disturbances. Emergency crews are preparing for potential water rescues, with self-evacuations encouraged. Officials warn of a possible 500-year flood, and approximately 15,000 homes are affected, contributing to over 500,000 power outages across the Carolinas.
