Cooler, drier air for the weekend
SUMMARY: Meteorologist Jim Sheehan provided an update on Tropical Storm Helene, which, despite its downgrade, remains a significant rainmaker but is weakening quickly. He highlighted a transition to lovely weather for the weekend, with clear skies and pleasant temperaturesโ82ยฐF in Bogalusa and 83ยฐF in Baton Rouge. The air is notably less humid, with a dew point of 58ยฐF at Louis Armstrong International Airport, thanks to dry upper-level air. Sheehan reassured viewers that there are no immediate concerns regarding the tropics, as two tropical storms currently present are not expected to affect the region.

Why celebrating homecoming festivities calls for extra precautions
SUMMARY: As homecoming season approaches, it’s essential for students and alumni to celebrate safely. Fox 14’s Jade Maloney emphasizes the importance of avoiding illegal substances and underage drinking. Attendees should arrange for sober transportation, stay aware of their surroundings, and secure valuables in their cars. Students are advised to never leave events alone, communicate their plans, and maintain contact with parents to establish curfews. If feeling unsafe, they should consider changing direction or seeking crowded areas and call 911 if necessary. Parents should remain accessible to support their teens in any unsafe situations.
