Tennessee leaders will look at other sites for state psychiatric hospital | Tennessee
SUMMARY: State and local leaders are considering a new site for a psychiatric hospital in East Tennessee, as an archeological review revealed that 73% of the current Chattanooga site contains historic artifacts and may have undiscovered human remains. Governor Bill Lee highlighted that this is the first such review since the Moccasin Bend Mental Health Institute’s establishment in 1961. Officials emphasize the urgent need for enhanced mental health services. The Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services plans to adapt its approach while maintaining existing services for the 52-county area. Hamilton County Mayor Weston Wamp supports the search for a new location.

Serial killer could be tied to Nashville cold case
SUMMARY: In 1979, 21-year-old Nashville mother Gail Norris was found murdered, stabbed multiple times. This cold case has remained unsolved for decades until recently, when Detective Weaver was contacted by her family, suggesting a possible connection to infamously convicted serial killer Samuel Little, who confessed to numerous murders. Despite the lack of direct evidence linking him to Gail’s case, the detective is revisiting the investigation, which had been dormant since 1979. A notable clue found near her body was an insurance pamphlet. The Nashville Cold Case website, launched last month, aims to gather information and potentially revive interest in solving this enduring mystery.
Anyone with information about the case should email mnpdcoldcase@nashville.gov.
