US attorney general in Jackson speaking to law enforcement

Firefighters from north Mississippi sent to help with hurricane relief in Florida

SUMMARY: Mississippi firefighters are on standby in the Florida Panhandle to assist during Hurricane Helen. Members of the Mississippi task force, firefighters from Oxford, , and Valley, are waiting in Pensacola for instructions from FEMA on where to deploy. All team members are trained in swiftwater rescue and rope rescue techniques, showcasing some of Mississippi’s best capabilities. Ronnie Taylor, an Oxford firefighter with in the affected area, shared that his relatives evacuated to Dothan, Alabama, to stay safe from the hurricane’s impact. The team is prepared to vital as needed.

Several firefighters from across north Mississippi are already in Florida to with Hurricane Helene relief.
