Firefighters from north Mississippi sent to help with hurricane relief in Florida
SUMMARY: Mississippi firefighters are on standby in the Florida Panhandle to assist during Hurricane Helen. Members of the Mississippi task force, including firefighters from Oxford, Tupelo, and Water Valley, are waiting in Pensacola for instructions from FEMA on where to deploy. All team members are trained in swiftwater rescue and rope rescue techniques, showcasing some of Mississippi’s best capabilities. Ronnie Taylor, an Oxford firefighter with family in the affected area, shared that his relatives evacuated to Dothan, Alabama, to stay safe from the hurricane’s impact. The team is prepared to provide vital support as needed.
Several firefighters from across north Mississippi are already in Florida to help with Hurricane Helene relief.

Fire destroyed house near Lake Piomingo in Lee County
SUMMARY: A fire near Lake Pingo in Lee County destroyed a house this morning, according to Morville Fire Chief Jason Parker.
