SUMMARY: Meteorologist Chase Ward reports on scattered showers and thunderstorms affecting the region. A frontal boundary has brought heavy rain and frequent lightning, particularly in parts of Franklin and Tensas Parishes. While strong storms have moved east, new cells are developing in the northwest. Current temperatures are in the 70s, with cooler air filtering in from the north. A secondary weather layer is expected to bring more thunderstorms, with a warm-up anticipated next week. Tropical Storm Helen is strengthening and expected to impact Florida, pushing moisture into Louisiana and Arkansas by Friday, leading to cloud cover and possible showers.

A secondary front will pass through today continuing more showers and t-storms. These storms will produce heavy rainfall and some gusty winds. Rain will linger through this afternoon before late clearing tonight. Expect some sunshine tomorrow before we see some cloud cover and some patchy rain from Helene off to the east. Clouds will linger into the weekend with temperatures staying seasonal in the mid 80’s with more sunshine next week.
