Part of Jackson street to be renamed after Hal White
SUMMARY: The Jackson City Council voted unanimously to rename a section of Pascagoula Street in honor of Hal White, former owner of Hal and Ma’s. Malcolm White, Hal’s brother, spoke at the council meeting, highlighting that the renaming process had begun in 2017. He expressed that this tribute would honor Hal’s legacy, as he had lived, worked, and raised a family in Jackson since 1985. Malcolm, who lost his brother in 2013 due to an aneurysm, noted that a previous renaming of the St. Patty’s parade was already in place to commemorate Hal, making this street naming a fitting continuation of his brother’s legacy.
