Woman reported missing in Barling park has been found
SUMMARY: Laurie Draper was found safe after being missing for over 18 hours following a hike with her husband, Thomas Bigham, at Spring Hill Park in Barling. The couple got separated after realizing they had lost their car keys. Search and rescue teams from multiple counties used drones and ground crews to search the area, eventually locating Draper in a muddy, dense section less than two miles from her car. She was treated for dehydration. Grateful for the community’s help, Bigham emphasized the need for better preparation for future hikes, including using a GPS tracker.

Bentonville parents gather to learn more about impacts of excessive screen time
SUMMARY: Experts advise that parents prepare for the increasing digital engagement of children, particularly through cell phones and social media. Dr. Joe Thompson, President and CEO of the Arkansas Center for Health Improvement, addressed Bentonville parents, emphasizing the need for awareness regarding screen time. With over 95% of teenagers on social media and many reporting constant use, concerns about sleep disruption and rising depression rates are prevalent. He recommends creating a social media plan, suggesting that younger children have strict limits while teens should be shielded from online dangers. Parents are urged to engage in meaningful discussions about their children’s online experiences.
