Where in Florida will projected Hurricane Helene make landfall?
SUMMARY: Tropical Cyclone Nine is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Helen and potentially reach hurricane status by Thursday, impacting the Big Bend region. With hurricane watches now issued for coastal areas and tropical storm alerts for several counties, concerns include flooding, tornadoes, and strong winds. As the storm approaches, heavy rainfall is anticipated Wednesday evening into Thursday, with hurricane-force winds expected in areas like Tampa and Orlando. The Gulf of Mexico’s unusually warm waters could enhance the storm’s intensity. Residents should stay alert and prepared as the situation evolves, with impacts likely beginning Thursday afternoon.
The state of Florida is preparing for potential impacts from Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, which is expected to intensify and possibly reach major hurricane strength before making landfall over Florida, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and the models. Parts of Central Florida are under a tropical storm watch through Friday morning ahead projected Hurricane Helene.

SUMMARY: The recent update indicates a potential tropical cyclone is expected to develop into a named storm tomorrow, with a northeast turn forecasted. By Wednesday morning, it may reach hurricane status as a Category 2 with significant wind gusts. The strongest impacts, including wind damage, are likely for Central Florida, with preparations recommended by Thursday morning as the storm approaches. The models show considerable variability in its future path.

Former Poseidon Ferry employees claim they are owed money
SUMMARY: Miami Beach has cancelled its contract with Poseidon Ferry, which provided water taxi services across Biscayne Bay. Former employees now claim they are owed wages for August, with one worker reporting a debt of about $650. Although the ferry received a $50,000 monthly subsidy from the city, employees are struggling to contact the owner for payment. Commissioner David Suarez is investigating potential assistance for the workers and plans to introduce a measure to reimburse those who purchased prepaid tickets. The ferry’s operations have ceased, and employees are facing challenges accessing their work hours for proof of payment.
Miami Beach used to pay Poseidon Ferry $50,000 a month to take people from Miami Beach to the City of Miami. Now, a former ferry employee is speaking out, saying he is still owed money for hours worked.
