SUMMARY: Decatur County Police are currently responding to a situation involving a barricaded suspect at a home on Meadow Rock Drive. Over 30 police vehicles, including SWAT and the bomb squad, along with EMS, are on-site. Witnesses reported hearing what they believed to be gunshots before law enforcement swarmed the area. One witness described the rapid-fire sounds while he was at a nearby gas station. Police have not confirmed any injuries and are advising local residents to stay indoors. SUMMARY: Georgia’s state election board is considering further changes to its electoral rules, following a recent mandate requiring the hand counting of every Election Day ballot. In a meeting today, the board advanced a proposal for counties to provide ballot scans within 72 hours. Concerns about potential chaos and the legitimacy of the election process have emerged, exacerbated by former President Trump‘s comments on board members. The ACLU of Georgia worries these changes may strain county boards as early voting approaches on October 15. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger believes the changes will withstand legal challenges and ensure election integrity.

Georgia’s election board is considering making more changes to the state’s electoral system just 42 days before the election.
