JCSO: 2 juveniles arrested after crime spree leaves 1 person stabbed
SUMMARY: Two teenagers are in custody following a series of crimes in Jefferson County, including a church burglary, attempted carjacking, and stabbing of a man. The incidents began when they broke into Ebenezer Methodist Church and then returned to the area to attempt a carjacking, during which they stabbed the victim, who is now stable in the hospital. While investigating, deputies identified and stopped the suspects’ vehicle, discovering one teen had overdosed, requiring hospital treatment. Both teens now face multiple charges, including vandalism, assault, carjacking, and robbery.
The juveniles were charged with aggravated assault, carjacking and aggravated robbery, vandalism over $1,000, burglary and more, according to deputies.

Debris remains an issue one month after historic Hurricane Helene flooding

Runners finishing Alyssa Lokits's run
SUMMARY: Today, runners nationwide are honoring Alysa Lockett, a 34-year-old who was tragically attacked and murdered while jogging on a Nashville greenway three weeks ago. Lockett was assaulted by a man who followed her during her run; she was later found shot and succumbed to her injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her sister-in-law, Abu Lockett, expresses gratitude for the overwhelming global support, emphasizing the family‘s desire to keep Alysa’s memory alive. The event includes a run organized by Fleet Feet and the nation’s run club, gathering participants at 6:30 p.m. for a 2 to 5-mile route.
Runners from across the country will honor Alyssa Lokits on Monday, Nov. 4.

Waverly helps East TN flood victims
SUMMARY: The Waverly community is rallying to assist East Tennessee hurricane victims, a cause close to their hearts after experiencing their own tragedy in 2021 when 20 residents lost their lives during floods. Waverly Cash Saver is currently gathering its second major donation, focusing on cold weather gear such as blankets, jackets, and children‘s books. Owners plan to deliver the donations to Johnson County, having previously sent 80 grills and 100 camping chairs. Co-owner John Curtis emphasized the importance of giving back, recalling the support Waverly received during its recovery. Additionally, FEMA has approved over $16.8 million in assistance for affected households.
The Waverly community is showing up in a big way to help East Tennessee flood victims following Hurricane Helene.
