Fact check: Allred gets called out on border policies | Texas
SUMMARY: Texas Democrat U.S. Rep. Collin Allred, challenging incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz, faces scrutiny over his border security claims. In a campaign ad, Allred promises to enhance border security and address fentanyl and human trafficking, despite previously labeling the border wall as racist. He argues that criticism of past statements is out of context, emphasizing the need for a clean DREAM Act and resources for dealing with immigration. However, he has a voting record opposing various border security measures that some Texas Democrats support. His campaign contrasts with that of Cruz, who has strong backing from the National Border Patrol Council.
