Tropics update: Depression likely next week in Gulf of Mexico
SUMMARY: Tropical development chances are increasing, particularly in the Gulf, where there’s a 70% likelihood of a system forming. Attention is also on waves off Africa with a 40% chance for development. The Gulf’s warm waters and low wind shear could facilitate rapid system formation. Forecast models show differing predictions: the GFS suggests early formation on Tuesday, potentially impacting Florida, while the Euro model forecasts later development on Wednesday, directing the system towards Louisiana. Residents should prepare hurricane emergency kits and stay weather aware as conditions may shift next weekend. Updates will continue from Fox 35.
The National Hurricane Center said a potential disturbance in the Caribbean Sea has a high chance (70%) of becoming a tropical depression next week as it nears the Gulf of Mexico.

Florida parents raise awareness for childhood cancer after losing 10-year-old son
SUMMARY: A Pasco County family is honoring their late son, Mason, who died from leukemia seven months ago, by sending a pair of shoes to a memorial in Washington DC, symbolizing children who succumb to pediatric cancer annually. Mason, who fought cancer with a smile, was committed to helping other kids during his own battle and aspired to be an NHL player and coach. The Fox family donated to a display of 1,800 shoes near the Washington Monument to advocate for increased federal funding for childhood cancer research, currently only 4%. They also established the Smile Like Mason Fox Foundation to support hospitalized children.
