Louisville mayor says city will bring back mask ban after recent shooting | Kentucky
SUMMARY: Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced the reinstatement of a 40-year-old ordinance banning masks in public, following a shooting at a high school football game where suspects wore surgical masks. This decision, discussed with Police Chief Paul Humphrey, aims to address gun violence amid ongoing efforts for additional assistance from state and federal authorities. Despite a 7% decline in non-fatal shootings this year, murders have increased. Greenberg emphasized the urgency to combat gun violence, which he termed a public health emergency, noting over 100 killings this year. The city will amend the ban to allow mask exemptions for health reasons.
