Hawley, Arab American Institute leader spar over antisemitism on college campuses | National
SUMMARY: During a Senate Judiciary hearing on hate crimes, Senator Josh Hawley questioned Maya Berry, director of the Arab American Institute, about antisemitism on college campuses, particularly regarding Palestinian protests. Hawley challenged Berry on the meaning of “Intifada” and related signs, asserting they signify calls for the destruction of Israel. Berry argued the term has nuanced meanings and does not automatically equate to hate speech. Amid audience disruptions, Hawley emphasized the need to condemn antisemitism, highlighting increased violence against Jews and the lack of safety felt by Jewish students in U.S. colleges, as Jewish groups seek legal accountability against organizations linked to campus protests.

St. Louis forecast: Showers throughout the day
SUMMARY: Today will be rainy with off-and-on showers and a chance of thunderstorms, while breezy conditions may create gusts up to 20 mph. Temperatures will remain seasonable in the upper 50s, reaching a high of 60 degrees. The rain is part of a larger system moving from Louisiana to Minnesota. For outdoor activities, be cautious of thunder. Tonight, showers will gradually end with a low of 53 degrees. Looking ahead, Veterans Day will feature sunny weather and temperatures around 67 degrees, before a few showers return on Wednesday. Overall, today is our only wet day this week.
Most of the smaller rivers, that had flooding problems, have now started to fall. The Meramec River is expected to fall below flood stages by Sunday night, even with the additional rain Saturday. The Mississippi and Missouri Rivers remain well within the banks as both have been running low and can handle the amount of rain flowing into them since last weekend.
Our Saturday will be on the rainy side. Showers will pick up for the afternoon. There will be a few isolated storms too. Most areas will see less than a half an inch of rain. There is a chance a few areas may get under a couple of heavier showers, but the amounts are not expected to prolong any river flooding.
By Sunday morning, the rain will be moving away from our region and any clouds will move out during the morning. Sunday is the pick day of the weekend with highs well into the 60s.
